We practice interior design as a specialty of architecture, facilitating a complete architecture—a unified whole—that satisfies user, client, and designer. We help architects and brands to develop interiors, design and source the furniture, lighting and textiles within. These may be singular or manufactured in volume, but always with precision and quality.
We can help you to select and design product, and take you through specifying, bidding, sampling and mock-ups. We navigate coordination during procurement, logistics and installation. Owners, architects and designers share a goal but do things differently. Having been on all sides, we bring ideas, processes, and solutions that build consensus among stakeholders to deliver compelling spaces.
SUZANNE GEHLERT
I began my career as design hotels were just starting to proliferate. Owners were turning away from convention and hiring prominent architects to create new travel experiences. I worked beside those architects, learning the language of each, to extend their practices, and lend their character to hotel interiors.
Eventually I had the chance to manage the design process for owners, brands, and operators. Together we built a new generation of hotels, restaurants, residences, offices, and schools, ushering in new typologies, from home-hosting and hostels to co-living and co-working, that continue to shape the way we travel, live and work.
The study and experience of art and architecture are at the center of my approach. I’ve worked and lived in some buildings that have left on me their indelible mark: the Lafayette Towers (Detroit), the superblock Las Colmenas (Madrid), the Daily News Building, the Seagram Building, Rockefeller Center, the Rockefeller Apartments, and the World Trade Center.
